BORE-ADS!

For national boards this year you take it on the computer at a testing facility. There are several different facilities all of the country so you don't have to take them in the city you live in. Utah was pretty saturated and had limited spaces for the testing sites there so I decided to take my national board at the facility in Boise. I scheduled it for the Monday after EASTER and General Conference weekend. I knew I was going to want to study all day Saturday and would need a quiet place so we got on priceline.com and found a nice suite at the Springhill Marriott for a cheap price. It was perfect- like a little studio apartment where I could study and get good rest. My friend Karley decided to take her boards in Boise with me. So we just locked ourselves in the room and studied till our brains could take no more. I read several places that the day before you take the Boards it is important to relax and let your brain rest/process everything. Fortunately it was EASTER the day before my test so I planned on laying around and eating all day! :) However, this was by far the strangest Easter ever. No Easter baskets or big family dinner. I am not going to lie it was kind of a let down. But at least I was able to relax and get ready for the big TEST! Since it was general conference weekend it was nice to have something to focus on other than cramming info. and worrying about not passing. Karley always can make me laugh so I am glad she was there too! It was nice to have someone else to go through the agonizing pain of staring at a computer for 5 hours racking your brain for the right answer! Since Karley is a paparazzi as I say I only have one picture she pretty much was taking them all the time so I didn't.

B is for BOY

 Our neighbors Christina and Matt are expecting their first baby a BOY on March 22nd. I helped her friend throw a baby shower for her at the clubhouse of another friend's apartment. It turned out great!

 I look completely cracked out in this picture. I just left my hair curly when I got out of the shower cause I was short on time but apparently I should of planned ahead to make myself look decent. But Christina made out with a lot of excellent baby loot! I am glad we were able to help her score some sweet gifts.

The theme of the baby shower was finger foods we had tons of kid appropriate snacks and even a cupcake contest! I thought it turned out great! and I  loved the colors! I can't take credit for the banner though that was her friend's doing! I totally am going to steal the idea for future gatherings though.

Something to smile about!

Today I participated in give kids a smile. Rachel ended up being my trusty companion and I couldn't have asked for a better partner! There were a few things I learned from this experience...1) how to use phosphate plate x-rays which by the way were awesome because you just scan them through this machine and they come up on the computer kind of like digital x-rays just without the bulky sensor. Pros and cons to both though. 2) I would perfer not to work in a pediatric office as a dental hygienist. Kids are great don't get me wrong but it can be a little challenging to clean their teeth especially when they bit down on your fingers. But it was a great day we were able to provide free dental care to kids, I got a lot of practice and a free lunch. Thanks Rach for all your help!

Marla's 21st Birthday

Marla, the youngest person in our class, turned 21 today! A group of her friends (us included) went to Macaroni Grill for dinner and then to a lounge called Sparks here in Provo. They serve non-alcoholic drinks. Only in Utah! But it was really fun and my mango mojito was delicious. Cost the same as an alcoholic drink though!

Simon, Alvin... THEODORE!

Mindi gave birth to THEODORE RILEY BURT today. Theo decided to come almost a month early (due date: March 15th) but he is a healthy baby. He is so cute and has a full head of hair. Wish we could have gone to visit this weekend to see him. Unfortunately I had to work and had a ton of stuff going on so we couldn't. We plan on going to Boise April 2nd-5th so we will see him then. We thought it would have worked out great cause he would have only been born a few weeks before. Now he is going to be 6 weeks so I am kind of sad we don't get to see him brand spankin' new but he will still be as precious as ever. Congratulations Mommy Mincer!

Bam...Mepivicaine!

The UDA convention was this weekend. We presented our table clinic on Phentolamine Mesylate which is a soft tissue anesthesia reversal agent. Our giant 3D syringe turned out awesome but sadly we did not win the contest. We did however get schooled by a dentist. He had a pen that snaps in and out and he was like bam I give you X mg. of mepivicaine blah blah blah but he keep saying "BAM mepivicaine" and snapping his pen in my face like he was giving me an injection! I also purchased Orascoptic loupes which will help with my ergonomics. Cost a small fortune but it will be worth it!
